At the heart of Atelier Kuchen is Alki Michael, a dedicated industry professional whose career transitioned from 32 years as a professional chef to a leading figure in kitchen design and installation. His unique perspective, shaped by years in the culinary world, informs his approach to crafting ergonomic kitchens where every element is meticulously placed for optimal use and functionality.

From Professional Chef to Professional Kitchen Installer

After retiring his chef whites, Alki retained a passion for kitchens and prior to opening his own kitchen showroom he spent 27 years as dedicated kitchen installer. Beginning with Italian kitchen installations, his expertise soon extended to working with renowned brands like Wren, Wickes, and John Lewis, outfitting their showrooms with precision and care. In recent years, under Alki’s direction, Atelier and his three dedicated fitting teams have impressively completed more than 400 projects for John Lewis alone, showcasing the blend of culinary insight and installation prowess that Atelier Kuchen offers to every client.

Opening A New Kitchen Showroom in Wimbledon

To deliver such an exceptional standard of service Alki required a broad range of cutting-edge tools, and to accommodate these tools he began by renting storage space. However, he quickly realised it was a more cost-effective solution to lease a shop space for this rather than keep paying storage fees. But more than just a financial decision, establishing fixed premises served as a powerful means to showcase Alki’s services and build trust with prospective clients. This was also something that very much set him apart from other local installation businesses. This original shop space naturally transitioned into Alki’s first kitchen showroom. And now, seven year later he is excited to extend his passion for kitchen design and installation with the launch of Atelier Kuchen’s brand new kitchen showroom in Wimbledon, marking a new chapter in offering unparalleled service and expertise for South West London homeowners.
